Bodcau Bayou G , above Dam
Another kayak paddle foray into the lake above Bodcau Dam, in the Bodcau WMA, east of Shreveport LA. It was a blistering hot afternoon, mid summer. Satellite map shows some maybe clear channels to the northeast. Maybe those could be followed to find a clean clear definite stretch of Bodcau Bayou. Not this time. Things started out good but ended up bulldozing through the brush. The turnaround phone pins in yellow are accurate, but some of the ‘route’ is only dot dot dot, which means there was a lot of pushing and shoving. But the confusion actually makes this area kind of interesting, you can see where you can go, where you can’t, and how to get back. Also, the lake can be circled by car using Cotton Valley Road on the east side and Duck Dam Road on the west; it’s a great drive.
