Caddo D 805 WMA Launch

A paddle route at Caddo, starting at the 805 WMA put-in. This one hangs an immediate right at the launch site to explore the nearby inlet. Even though this inlet is not very big, I once got all turned around and lost in it, every direction looks the same. The paddle route continues to explore another longer inlet that extends quite a ways south, then heads north through Back Lake and Clinton Lake to get back onto Carter’s Chute. Instead of taking this all the back the route detours into Jenkins Slough and Old House Slough (including a tunnel!), and finally returns to the launch. The water was pretty high, there was a bit of current on Carter’s Chute, and because of this a complete transit of Jenkins and Old House was possible. Otherwise these might not be doable, they can be shallow and very brushy. Good trip.
