Lake Chicot State Park Kayak Paddling Trip

Lake Chicot is a thin strip of a lake midway between Alexandria and Lafayette and only a few miles from I-45. For this kayak trip I launched at the East Boat Ramp and hugged the shore around the entire south side of the lake, until I got back level with the launch. As a result the red trail line has the same contour as the shoreline. It’s a beautiful park and there are lots of tupelo trees in the water, one of which had two trunks (see picture). Nice early morning paddle around the lake, next time I will try the north side.

Above: There were an awful lot of wasps nests here, caution.
