Denton Creek, Lake Grapevine, Trophy Club

Denton Creek flows into Lake Grapevine, exits, and ultimately flows into the Elm Fork of the Trinity River close to the McInnish put-in near I-35. The upstream section here can be accessed at Trophy Club Park, which charges a small entry fee for boat launching. There is a main boat ramp where you can unload, but several other spots can be used to launch as well. This trip was in very early spring with the trees just starting to bud but it still has that cold feel to it. I actually went out to the lake first, and up Marshall Branch, then returned to do an up and back into Denton Creek. The lake was windy and I got blown around a bit. The map shows different turnaround points on Denton Creek, just depending how far one wants to paddle on a particular day. The creek is easy and wide, there is usually someone else paddling or fishing, and sometimes there will be a beaver or two.

Above: Wow.
