Fort Worth Nature Center B

Fort Worth Nature Center is located between Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth on the west side of Fort Worth. Why go?…alligators. The Center has several launches for canoes/kayaks/etc. but it is also possible to launch for free ‘around the corner’ at the Lake Worth Boat Dock. This route does that, going first underneath the huge Highway 199 bridge and then kind of up and around before you enter the refuge itself. This requires a bit more lake paddling than if you launch within the park, but it’s still not too far from the dam as an out and back trip (as shown in the map above), and you get to investigate all of the small grassy islands where the alligators are hiding. Also, this launch site is not restricted by the Nature Center’s hours, which are bit tight.
