Fort Worth Nature Center B
Fort Worth Nature Center is located between Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth on the west side of Fort Worth. The Center has several launches for canoes/kayaks/etc. but it is also possible to launch for free nearby at the Lake Worth Boat Dock. This route does that, going first underneath the huge Highway 199 bridge and then kind of up and around before entering the refuge itself. This requires a bit more lake paddling than if you launch within the park, but it’s still ok to for an up and back to the dam (as shown in the map above). This launch also lets you explore the small grassy islands where the alligators are hiding and is not restricted by the Nature Center’s hours, which are bit tight.
