Hagerman NWR, Lake Texoma, Sandy Creek
The Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge is an hour or so north of Dallas and a great place to paddle, something new every time. This trip started at the L Pad launch on the west side of the Refuge, went out to the east side, hugged the shore going north to reach a small island. That was the turnaround, after which the route comes back along the west shore and explores a bit of Sandy Creek. Brushy Creek, done on another trip, was skipped this time because some guys were hunting in the inlet there. Texoma can have wind from the south and this can make for a bit of work getting back.
