Lake Charlotte, Mac Lake, Cedar Hill Park Kayak Paddle

There are some spectacular areas to kayak near Houston. One such area is the Trinity River bottom north of the Galveston and Trinity Bays. This region is wooded, swampy, and has numerous channels, sloughs, and lakes to explore, depending on the specific launch site. Cedar Hill Park, just off of Lake Charlotte, has primitive campsites and is a less-busy place to put-in. The route here goes north from Cedar Hill Park to explore Mac Lake and the many side channels that feed in. Turnaround points were pinned on google maps and are shown as yellow dots. It’s a terrific area to paddle, very pretty, and alligators are common. By going north from Lake Charlotte one can also access the main channel of the Trinity River. There several routes one can design from the Cedar Hill Park put-in and so this area is worth multiple trips.
