Lake Charlotte, Lake Miller, Mud Lake, Trinity, Cedar Hill Park

The above paddle route is another that launches out of Cedar Hill Park east of Houston onto Lake Charlotte. An earlier trip from this spot went north to Mac Lake; this one goes south down Lake Pass to the I-10 bridge, back through an alternative channel to Lake Miller, then into Mud Lake. Quite a place and quite a trip! The early morning was completely fogged in; a couple hundred feet off shore there was nothing but white in any direction, weird feeling, even disturbing. As it burned however off the lake and swamp were revealed, and they were perfect. The turnaround at I-10 was just to reach that point, just to do it, no other reason. Getting into Lake Miller on the way back was very hard, paddling and pushing on top of the vegetation, I wouldn’t pick that route again. And finding Mud Lake Bayou, which leads way into Mud Lake, needed several back and forths to get it figured. But worth it, the paddle between Miller and Mud is super twisty. Great place!
