Kayak route paddle map in the Little River, Millwood Lake area…a very nice place. The launch site, Yarborough Landing, is free, and gives access to the swamp to the north west. To my surprise the google satellite map is misleading–many of the green areas are actually clear for paddling, depending on the season. Although a bit busy motorboat-wise, this is a tremendous place to paddle. There are quite a few alligators, and the many in and out channels, sloughs, bayous, allow for multiple route and exploration options. The trips in this section are labeled A, B, C…etc. Water levels were high this trip, with a noticeable current even in the flat water to the northwest of the launch site. And water was over the single lane bridge at Pond Creek NWR as shown in the picture below. Because I thought it might get even higher, I decided to switch campsites to one closer to the entrance so I could be sure of an exit if needed. The nearby Millwood State Park also has camping and shower facilities, although it was really busy and loud the night I spent at a tent site there. Great place.
