Little River, Millwood Lake, Arkansas A
Kayak route paddle map in the Little River, Millwood Lake area of southwest Arkansas near Ashdown. The launch site, Yarborough Landing, is free, and gives access to the lake and swamp areas. The google satellite map of this area was misleading–many of the green areas were actually clear, and while its a bit busy with motorboats it’s still a great place to paddle. Lots of alligators and many channels and sloughs to explore. The trips in this section are labeled A, B, C…etc. Water levels were high this trip, with a decent current coming in from Little River to the northwest. Water was even covering a single lane bridge in Pond Creek NWR, so I switched campsites to one closer to the entrance. Millwood State Park has camping and shower facilities, but it was full, loud, and busy my one night there. Sites in the Pond Creek NWR are better.
