Muddy Creek, Paddle Point Park, Lake Ray Hubbard

Paddle Point Park is a popular kayak and canoe and paddleboard launch site off of Miller Road in Rowlett. There is almost always someone else paddling here, and there is a kayak rental place nearby. The park launches into a small inlet of Lake Ray Hubbard which is pretty well wind protected. You can go north under the tracks and explore the lake and Muddy Creek, or south into the lake. The route in the above map goes up pretty far into Muddy Creek to the north, then circles the west shore of the lake back around to the put-in. The area where Muddy Creek flows into the lake is sometimes too shallow to paddle, but when water is high enough the brushy areas here can be fun to explore. The entrance to Muddy Creek is one of the prettiest places around. How far up the creek you can go will vary with flow rate and water level, but usually you can make it at least to Liberty Grove Road if you don’t mind going around a log or two. At Liberty Grove there is a pond to the right but that direction ends pretty quickly. If you go north here you can explore more of the Creek.
