Red River, Lake Texoma, Lebanon Oklahoma

The above map describes access to the Red RIver/Texoma area via the Lebanon Public Use Area in Oklahoma. I initially tried from the Texas shore, e.g. Sheppard Rec Annex, the Delaware Bend area, and some of marinas, but all the access points seemed to be locked and private, or military. The Paw Paw Trailhead on the south side is usable but it would have been almost all lake paddling. So I went around to the Oklahoma side and, an hour later, launched at Lebanon. Some route turnarounds were due to shallow mudflats. The trip was in the winter and the scenery is exposed, barren, stark, just open land, water, wind, and sky, amazing. Great paddle.

Above: The chaos of mud and logs and debris, there’s no sense to be made of it, it just is.

Above: Wow!
