Steinhagen, Martin Dies State Park, Rush Creek

Steinhagen paddle trip map doing an up and back into Rush Creek, then out to the lake, up to Martin Dies SP, and around and down. Rush Creek itself is pretty wide up to the Highway, easy to paddle, and I have always seen quite a few gators on it. The central part of the lake has some small cypress tree islands that can be explored and is a nicer area than I had expected. The rest of the trip winds its way up to the park and back around. Just before returning to the launch it takes the channel that goes underneath Highway 190. This channel is often filled with salvinia and paddling can be slow. There is a lot to explore here on the west side of Steinhagen.
