Upper Ouachita NWR E Kayak Paddle Trip
Kayak paddle map starting at the Finch Lake Rec Area and going north on the Ouachita River, then east. Higher water at the Upper Ouachita NWR during this trip allowed for exploration of the refuge east side and the Mollicy Unit. As a result, this paddle route is able go all over the place, way up some back channels, up into Mollicy Bayou, and back west along the twisty Deep Slough. Didn’t see any bears but I hope to some time. But check out the alligator gar in the pictures below. Amazing.

Above: After the trip I drove up to Felsenthal and a big storm came through and this was down over the road back. Had to take a detour.
