Walnut Creek, Joe Pool Lake
This kayak trip launches on Joe Pool Lake at Loyd Park in Grand Prairie, goes north and east to some huge power lines that cross the lake, south/southwest to explore the shoreline, then up and back Walnut Creek. There may be a pretty similar trail listed on the TPWD website. Loyd Park charges $20 bucks which, given 10 minutes unloading the boat and 10 minutes loading the boat, works out to a dollar a minute. The southern shore of the lake has some small inlets to explore which are quite pretty. Walnut Creek itself winds back and forth to the west. It’s mostly wide and easy to paddle but once you go under the 360 bridge its starts to narrow and so that sets the turnaround.
