White Rock Creek, Loop 12 Trinity River Put-In
The boat launch to paddle up White Rock Creek below Dallas is where Loop 12 crosses the Trinity just south of downtown. The trail route goes about a mile up the Trinity, then splits to take White Rock Creek. The map shows a couple of trips, one of which turned around at Highway 175 (yellow), the other turned around earlier (red). There will be some trash in the creek and its a bit muddy but still it is interesting to paddle up into the ‘Great Trinity Forest’, one of the few isolated areas in DFW. There is a trailhead parking lot for the Trinity Forest Hiking trail right near the put in, and the Trinity River Audubon Center is a short distance away on Loop 12. Sometimes the boat launch is marked closed, and it always feels a bit sketchy to park there.
