Angelina River, 539 Tram Boat Ramp, Sam Rayburn C

Kayak route map launching at the Tram Boat Ramp at the end of CR 539 into the Angelina River at the north end of Sam Rayburn Reservoir. The area is south of Nacogdoches and north of Lufkin. The route is a hodge-podge, the purple route line was to see if any of the little meandering side channels along the Allen Branch (so labeled on google) would extend south to actually hit the main Angelina channel (traced in green). None did, the river braids and weaves but no direct connection; maybe at higher water but not today. Then, to put a bit more distance in, the route starts over and follows the red line, first to the east to actually hit the Angelina River at the north end of Sam Rayburn (yellow dot with asterisk), then back up the same way past the launch and upstream a bit before returning to the launch. The water was very low on this 100F summer day, Sam Rayburn was at 72% full pool, and the Angelina gage at 59 nr Lufkin was 90 cfs. Saw lots of pigs, 20 or maybe more.
