Kiamichi River below Hugo Dam, Oklahoma

Kayak paddle trail route map on the Kiamichi River using the Corps of Engineers boat launch just below Hugo Dam off of US Hwy 70 in Oklahoma. The Kiamichi flows out of the dam and into the Red River. This trip goes downstream to a rocky area with a sharp turn then returns back to the launch. Hugo Lake above the dam was 3.5 feet below full pool and the release out of the dam was 215 cfs. Fine for paddling. The sides of the river are private ranch land and cattle were along the banks in several places. Saw a couple raccoons, several deer, and some wild turkeys. The river is fairly wide and so this is a flatwater paddle, about 22 miles round trip and five-ish hours.
