Lake Eufaula, OK, Hickory Point Rec Area, Gaines Creek

Kayak paddle trail route map starting at Hickory Point Recreation Area east of McAlester, OK. The trip launches into the southeastern most part of Lake Eufaula, goes east up into Gaines Creek, and retraces itself back to Hickory Point. About 18 miles round trip, with Lake Eufaula about 2 feet down from full pool. Gaines Creek where it branches from Brushy Creek is easy flatwater for several miles, but further upstream things start to get kind of loggy, some of the jams can even be seen on google satellite maps. If the water were higher more of the side lakes, which were mostly mudflats this time, could be explored.
