Above: Collections look nice.

Above: The red planet.

Above: As shown.

Above: Hand carved wood sculpture with gnarled legs and wild arms, caught mid-stride. The carving blends arboreal structure with biomorphic limbs, poised for movement.

Above: Crock Crack-pot.

Above: Wooden bird sculpture with elongated beak, rustic finish, and Mona Lisa gaze. It watches but doesn’t speak.

Above: This tall stylized avian silhouette sculpture rises from the floor with sweeping curves. The body perches on an openwork base with an unusual balance point.

Above: Downturned gaze and incurving limbs give this little carved wooden elephant sculpture a sense of introspection and melancholy. The circular halo or container on top is a curious feature, perhaps a burden.

Above: Rustic wood sculpture of dark, bent, and antlered stag or unicorn with downward face and spiraled main horn acting as support.

Above: This wood sculpture is a labyrinth of internal structure held up by sturdy patterned legs. Seen from different viewpoints it morphs from animalistic to abstraction, ‘almost this’ and ‘almost that’ but not quite.

Above: A surreal wood carving featuring intertwined alien forms and a theme of dependence and protection, a guardian totem, a beaked angel perhaps…but not from this world.

Above: This abstract wood sculpture features a solitary figure with one arm raised in an expressive arc, all attention focused on the twisted but undefined object held in the other arm.

Above: This wood-carved figure rises from its enclosure holding symbolic chalice and key. With strong, primitive features, minimal expression, and weathered surface, the figure stands waiting.

Above: Hand-carved wood sculpture of a radically elongated bird form with gnarled tripod-style legs and neck that projects outward, giving an impossibly forward lean and inquisitive aspect to the figure.

Above: Spalted wood pyramid.

Above: Ebony stained wood carving with three point globular legs supporting a convoluted root swirl, one tendril reaching upward, exploring.

Above: Two V shapes, top and bottom, create this abstract humanoid wood sculpture that poses with bent knee, bowed back, and bifurcated headform. The forward posture enhances the sense of attention or readiness.

Above: The trickster–this one with a triumphant, mischievous grin, sitting upon a high-backed and ornate throne. How he got there is uncertain, even suspect, but he is obviously pleased to be there.

Above: Somewhat unsettling, the distorted limbs, ringed torso, extended cup-like appendage, and grim countenance of this darkly stained figure suggest severity and menace.

Above: This unusual wood sculpture features a crocodilian skull atop a sinuous, upwardly spiraling body of organic forms. A one-horned linear dragon shaped from twisted wood.

Above: Balancing on two thick legs oriented in opposite directions, this strange wood figure glances backwards with furtive expression…it knows its been seen. The off-kilter anatomy and carved emblems on the shoulders add a cryptic narrative to its identity.

Above: Slender wood sculpture featuring intertwined figures rising vertically in continuous and delicate lines. The two abstract head-like forms at top are positioned side by side—one bare, the other with an ornamental headdress.

Above: This wood-carved mask face presents a grotesque visage with its spiraled horns that twist outward. Hollow eyes peer out from a knotted face that seems to be unraveling. Wild and primal.

Above: A wooden totem consisting of five stacked heads projecting from an open spaced support. The faces show minimal variation, paused mid-thought with hollow eyes, watching.

Above: Upright wood carving with undulating lines and globular protrusions set off from the vertical axis create an organic but nonspecific abstract form.

Above: Small, symmetrical wooden good luck charm-woman in dress carrying a tray.

Above: Spindly wood sculpture composed of thin, bony, and irregular lines that twist and branch upward. Towards the top a gangly figure somehow emerges, at an awkward angle, suspended, its limbs projecting outwards as though mid-step.

Above: Tall, narrow wood sculpture with stream of consciousness designs and motifs coming off the vertical axis. Non-repetitive and curious, it’s a vertical box of chocolates.

Above: Minimalistic wood sculpture composed of three slender, curved limbs that emerge from a central axis, forming an irregular arch. A bit eerie, the ‘creature’ resists fixed orientation and one almost expects it to start walking.

Above: This vertical wood sculpture contains three intertwined figures, ancient crowned kings perhaps, all grasping a central cord that binds them, unified in posture and tension.

Above: A beaked turtle, this one with knobby shell, inquisitive face, bulging eyes, and genial disposition. Wanders around the house, in and out, no problem.

Above: Googly-eyed wood sculpture cranes its neck and looks around in open-mouthed astonishment. A nut.

Above: Another -headcase- with mouth agape, this one with an adjustable tongue to match the ‘mood of the day’, from crazy 1 to 10.

Above: Dark-stained surreal sculpture featuring two upright figures—angels, or sentinels perhaps—rising side by side, culminating in a bizarre, horizontally extended, winged creature with open jaws and distorted anatomy.

Above: Free flowing, amorphous, vertical wood sculpture.

Above: Small wood cedar sculpture consisting of a vertical stack of cored bulbs or cups, each facing a different direction.

Above: An inscribed wooden fortune teller. There are four sections, or suits, each composed of 13 small blocks and one large block. All blocks are marked on four sides with geometric, pictographic, or abstract symbols. Rotation of the entire set of 56 blocks along the length of the apparatus sets the fortune in place, which must then be read. Beware the outcome.

Above: Unusual wood sculpture of some prehistoric or alien organism in a poised, searching stance. Its long, raised, claw-like arm—combined with the otherworldly, skeletal aspect of the figure—suggests lethality, predation.

Above: This small wood sculpture is carved with a rotary-style crowned head that appears face-like from all angles. The slight bow or downward tilt suggests weight or contemplation.

Above: The trickster in this carving has climbed to the top of a tall wooden ladder and is sitting on top with a self-satisfied expression.

Above: This priestly figure in black stands with a gaunt, skull-like head atop a long neck, embraced in a clawed imperial mantle and locked in a hieratic stillness—formal and elevated.

Above: A light-toned, twisted, bipedal animal with horned snout and head, its two angular and decorated legs set in an awkwardly splayed stance.

Above: This rough monkey-like figure leans forward with a crude, horned head, sunken eyes, and jutting jaw. Its off-kilter arms and legs and twisted stance add to the sense of unease, as though assembled incorrectly from parts.

Above: Contorted ungulate sculpture resembling a goat perhaps, but with a distorted muzzle and bent legs, lifts and carries a twisted object above its back.

Above: Angular and tilted block-form sculpture with spalted surface, this abstract form sits askance with geometric legs, arms, and head.

Above: An oddly asymmetric, imbalanced form, consisting of large perforated skull and beak connected to a more delicate quadruped-like extension. Hollow cavities and carved openings give the structure a porous, bone-like quality.

Above: Menagerie of fantastical animals swirling about in one surreal block.

Above: This striking figure lifts itself up with elongated arms, grasping the box for support. It looks directly at the viewer with a penetrating and self-assured gaze, both haughty and condescending. It fills the room.

Above: Anatomically twisted and tense wood bird sculpture with impossible balance point rests on its talons and stretches forward, over the edge, peering up and down.

Above: Small study of a flowing form, ovals along a central column, alternating red and white, made from laminated cedar.

Above: Wood carved sculpture of a male figure, standing with staff, a traveler, a final pilgrimage.

Above: Two views of a carved Thai/Japanese Shamo chicken remarkable, to me at least, for their upright stature and their “You want a piece of me?”, “Let’s settle this”, attitude.

Above: Wood carved sculpture that ascends in stepwise rings, alternating void and volume, terminating abruptly in a pair of delicate biomorphic coral crowns that contrast with the heavy base.

Above: A tall wooden king, thin lines throughout, with an ornate garbledy crown.

Above: Small vertical wood sculpture, a pattern experiment in cedar, alternating notches rising in wave-like rhythm.

Above: Genie, djinn, trickster, imp, this figure swings by one arm, grinning widely, mocking gravity with a devil-may-care flair, expecting to be noticed, and likely up to some folkloric mischief.

Above: Upright wooden sculpture depicts a gargoyle with spined back, narrow, single-horned head, and heavily ridged mid-section resembling a shield or armor plates. The piece conveys tension and guarded posture.

Above: Carved wood sculpture showing front and back views of entangled figures in a state of anatomical chaos, with wildly exaggerated features and a surreal, unhinged feel.

Above: A minimalist but evocative wooden sculpture of a head with gaping mouth and dark hollowed eyes that register the shock of the moment. The bald crown, white surface, and black background amplify its intensity.

Above: Figurine in wood with short legs, segmented and notched torso of perpendicular rectangular panels, long arms, and primate-like face encased in a helmet. Could be lucky. Could be very lucky.

Above: This wooden sculpture depicts a turtle-like creature with a heavy build, deep-set eyes, and a poised posture. The creature can move very slowly, but the movement is imperceptible.

Above: Tall, dark, enigmatic, this ominous and undulating figure arises with arms raised, its face a long form of deep eyes and flowing tendrils.

Above: Bonneted female figure with forlorn expression rises, a haunting jack-in-the-box stripped of playfulness.

Above: This hand-carved wood sculpture consists of a hollow cubic lattice of interlocking gear motifs rising in a tower, suggesting structural complexity and detail.

Above: This hollowed barrel-form sculpture is textured with cryptic drilled dot patterns, embedded dowels, and an unsettling, enigmatic face. Within the design surface is a star chart rendering of the constellation Orion.

Above: A sculptural totem of fantastical design, this piece blends creature-like grotesques, intertwined and stylized human expressions, and a spiral top with knob-like crown. The middle of the carving is a smooth oval, bomb, or alien egg.

Above: Wood-carved creature composed of a hollow, cylindrical body set atop four wobbly, uneven legs. An extended neck and collared open hole emphasize an abstracted animal stripped of surface detail.

Above: This complex wooden sculpture combines bird- and dragon-like skull forms, each with hollow eye sockets and pronounced beaks that function as talon-like supports. Grooved, coiled elements extend outward from the body, amplifying its creature-like presence. Eye-catching.

Above: This square wood block has been carved into a 360 degree rotating cast of simple stylistic faces that your mind must extract. As the block rotates new expressions come into view…playful, eager, surprised, bewildered, dumb?

Above: Hand-carved sculpture of a right-handed spiral, carved from laminated cedar. Like a vine, the wood twists upward with perceptible unevenness.

Above: This abstract wood carving features a triangular frame, perhaps a figure, that connects on its perimeter with an embracing loop.

Above: 15 photos of a bent-wood serpentine sculpture, each at a slightly different angle. The carving is a single branch carved and stained with alternating dark and light patterns along its length, held up by its tail in impossible poses.

Above: Rough-hewn hanging wood sculpture with a looping design suggestive of a free-form avian with claws, beak, wings.

Above: Totem-like wood sculpture featuring a stylized, helmeted face together with complex edges, cutouts, and slots in the torso and headdress that blend human figuration with mechanical design.

Above: With its goblet-like form, barrel-shaped head, and abstract crown, this wood sculpture presents faces in all directions.

Above: I don’t know. But it’s pretty funny when it’s upside down. Sculptures have bellies, it turns out.

Above: Polished black wood sculpture with graceful curves, hooks, and loops—its form shifts depending on orientation, evoking a feline, an elephant, a ship, or ancient script.

Above: Imps and tricksters organized in acrobatic column, culminating in a handstand at top and supported by a big fellow at the base. A vertical parade of showmanship, or show-offs.

Above: Naturally stained bent wood figure, leaning with one arm to the ground, carrying an undefined but weighty object. The piece emphasizes strain, balance, and burden.

Above: Carved from wood, this sculpture consists of a rhythmic sequence of ring-like forms rising in a straight column. Each ring shifts its angle to create a dynamic and irregular sense of movement and variation.

Above: This minimalist hanging sculpture showcases a smooth, oval frame reminiscent of a leaf or wing, its flowing inner curves resting gracefully within the open interior space.

Above: A tall, elongated figure helpfully lifts a smaller form—a puppet perhaps, or child—above its head, eyes fixed upward. The legs of the figure are notable, even disturbing–long, heavy, and gnarled in an odd configuration.

Above: An experiment for me–chainsaw bear–to see if I could do it…currently a doorstop.

Above: Hollow, crawling creature with a double-ended maw mouth and extended, claw-like limbs. The open barrel appearance adds a unique expressivity to its squat, beastlike form. It’s a good-natured pet, curious and non-threatening.

Above: Ebony-stained wood sculpture featuring a primitive humanoid figure with avian beak-like spinal elements and ceremonial headdress. Wicked.

Above: Magical wooden wand with slender shaft, capped on one end with an eyelet and the other with a directional separator from which, presumably, sparks emit.

Above: Hand-carved biomorphic bird-god reclines in creature-like posture, gazing outward with spindly appendages that twist and fork chaotically.

Above: This wood sculpture uses a solidly planted bipedal base and tail to carry a swirling and entangled mass above. Is it vortex, labyrinth, globe, nucleus, cage, trap?

Above: Small wood sculpture carved from laminated cedar, depicting a vertical stalk with rounded pods—on the verge of opening or release.

Above: Wood sculpture featuring a burdened and exasperated creature hoisting a grinning, big-eared, and toothy trickster companion above its shoulders. The piece blends fantasy and caricature.

Above: Cheerful and highly patterned carved creature of no definite genus, one side with concentric circular motifs culminating in a central medallion, the other side with streaming and dotted zigzag lines. It is happy to be what it is.
